Amazon is making crucial moves in their bid to take over online shopping. They will be shelling out a whopping $13.7 billion to acquire one of the most recognizable health food chains. This will be the largest purchase that Amazon has ever made, and it just goes to show how serious they are about their grocery domination.
“Millions of people love Whole Foods because they offer the best natural and organic foods, and they make it fun to eat healthy,” said Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos in a statement.
Although Amazon will be the new owner, they have graciously decided to allow Whole Foods Co-founder and CEO John Mackey to continue to run the company. That decision in itself seems very strategic considering Whole Foods has been successful under his watch.
